Head Football Coach
Graduated: Texas Southern University Career: The 2025 season will be Blake Ware’s 2nd season as Campus Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach for the Generals. Coach Ware, a 1989 graduate of MacArthur, will be entering his 30th year overall of high school coaching. Before arriving at MacArthur, Coach Ware spent four seasons as the Assistant Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Dayton High School. Coach Ware, who is known for rebuilding football programs, did just that in Dayton. Hired in 2020, Coach Ware went through a rebuilding process that took the Broncos from 0-10 to the playoffs in just three seasons. Before arriving in Dayton, Coach Ware spent 6 seasons in New Caney as the Offensive Coordinator. During his time in New Caney, the Eagles accomplishments in football were those that had never been seen in that community. While Coach Ware served in New Caney, the Eagles won the first playoff games in school history, four straight district championships, and 10-win seasons. The offensive production at New Caney was at the top of the district, area, and state levels every year. Before coming to New Caney, Coach Ware was the head coach at St. Pius X High School from 2011-2014, Woodlands Christian in 2010, and Greenhill School from 2005-2009. During his time as a head coach, his teams qualified for the playoffs 7 times. Overall as a Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, Coach Ware was involved in three state championship games; including a state championship team in 1999. Coach Ware has coached a national leading passing offense in 2008 averaging 386.4 yards passing per game, an offense that produced a 3,000 yard rusher in one season, a passer who was tenth overall in the nation with touchdown passes – 58, an offensive unit that average over 450 yards and 40 points per game in three consecutive seasons, 8 district championships, and three state championship games. In 2013 he was selected as one of fifteen coaches from across the nation to coach in the Under Armour All American Game in Orlando, Florida. Coach Ware is a long standing member of both the THSCA (Texas High School Coaches Association) and GHFCA (Greater Houston Football Coaches Association). Coach Ware is currently serving as President of the GHFCA. In 2012 Coach Ware was a Touchdown Club of Houston Coach of the Year finalist. Coach Ware and his wife, Trina, have three kids. Tim, Averie, and Alana. They also are proud Grandparents of Atlas and Troy. Go Big Red!

DHERYAN JACKSON

S&C / Offensive Coordinator
Graduated: Texas State University 2010 - 2013 Coaching Career: The 2025 season will be Coach Jackson’s 2nd season as the Offensive Coordinator for the Generals. Coach Jackson, a 2008 graduate of Athens High School, will be entering his 12th year of coaching high school football. Before coming to MacArthur High School in the summer of 2024, Coach Jackson has spent his coaching career at New Caney High School (2014-2020), Dayton High School (2020-2024). During Coach Jackson’s career, he has been a part of 4 District Championship teams including 3 Undefeated District Championship teams. Coach Jackson is a long-time member of The Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association. Coach Jackson also coaches the hurdlers for the MacArthur Track team. As a player: Coach Jacksoni was an Honorable Mention All-State Safety along with District New Comer of the year as a Sophomore and 1st Team All District on both sides of the ball as a Junior and Senior. He received an Athletic Scholarship to play at Arkansas Tech University as a Slot Receiver. Family: Coach Jackson married his High School Sweetheart, Lara, together they have 2 wonderful boys, Wesley and Collin.

NICK McCOY
Defensive Coordinator
Career: The 2025 season will be Nick McCoy’s 2nd season as the Defensive Coordinator for our MacArthur Generals. Coach McCoy is entering his 8th year teaching and 15th year coaching. Before arriving at MacArthur, Coach McCoy spent the previous seven seasons as a part of the Heights High School community. Throughout his time at Heights, Coach McCoy worked as a Secondary Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator, and Defensive Coordinator. The 2019-2023 seasons were spent as the Defensive Coordinator. During his time as the Defensive Coordinator the team snapped a 72-game district win streak for Lamar High School, won its first district championship as a 6A school, won its first playoff game as a 6A school, advanced to the area round of the UIL playoffs three times, and help improve opponents average points per game from over 30 in his first year to less than 11 points per game in his final year at Heights High School. In his last four seasons the defense gave up an average of less than 21 points per game. Throughout his time at Heights, 49 defensive players, 22 of which were defensive backs, attended universities to play collegiate football. Prior to Heights High School, Coach McCoy served as the Outside Linebackers Coach for St. Pius X High School during the 2012-2016 seasons. The 2012 and 2013 seasons were spent under the leadership of Coach Blake Ware. At St. Pius X he coached three All-State and three more All-District position players. His coaching career started as a volunteer middle school football coach at St. Ambrose Catholic School in 2011. Coach McCoy has been a part of a playoff football team in 12 of his previous 13 years coaching. Throughout his coaching career four seasons were spent as an assistant baseball coach, three seasons as an assistant track and field coach, and two seasons as a head golf coach. Coach McCoy is a member of the Texas High School Football Coaches Association (THSCA) and the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association (GHCA). Coach McCoy is a native Houstonian and graduate of St. Pius X High School, class of 2009. He and his wife, Katie, have two children. Clay (5) and Cori (1)


JAKARI COOPER
INTERIOR DEFENSIVE LINE
Career: The start of the 2025 season will be his second year as Defensive tackles coach. Coach Cooper Is a Spring High graduate of 1996. Coach Cooper spent time in college playing basketball before joining the Army and retired oef/oif combat veteran. He is now entering his 9th year of coaching. He spent 5 years in Jr high coaching football, basketball, and track. The last 2 years in Jr high he was the boys athletic coordinator in Dayton. In 2017 as a volunteer at New Caney High school, he was part of the defensive staff and won the district championship along with a playoff run. He spent the 2018-19 season on staff at Keefer Crossing Middle school in New Caney. In 2020 he went over with coach Ware to Dayton to help build the program at the Jr high for 3 years. In 2020 he was part of the Woodrow Wilson Jr High staff that won Jr high staff the year from the GHFCA. In 2024 was brought up to the High school in Dayton to coach Defensive ends. In 2025 when coach Ware coach Cooper came over with him as well. In 2025 summer coach Cooper coached in the final Bayou Bowl with a huge win. Coach Cooper and his wife Meliisa have 3 boys. Jordan, 25 New Caney graduate, was a district MVP/Offensive MVP All academic team All county player of the year. Played collegiately at US naval academy and University of Houston, GA football coach NAIA. Camron ,21 Graduate of Dayton High School was First team Defensive end Tight end. All county First team and All state team All academic team Currently plays Defensive end at UTSA . Jakari Jr. graduated from Dayton was a 2nd team Defensive back and All academic team earned a Bayou Bowl starting spot and currently plays Defensive back at Arkansas Tech. Coach Cooper and his wife Melissa have one lovely grandchild, Rayn.

Tim Fitzpatrick brings a wealth of successful coaching experience. With over 30 years of coaching, Coach Fitz is a seasoned defensive specialist. He has been successful during his coaching journey as a Defensive Coordinator, but also as a Head Coach. Coach Fitz went 45-13 as the Head Coach at St. Thomas from 2012 - 2016. 1993-1995: Graduate Assistant Rice University. 1995-1996: Defensive Ends coach -Sanford University 1996-2003: DC at St. Thomas HS. 1996 State Champs. 2001- State Finalist. 2006-2009: Co-DC at Episcopal HS. 2009 SPC Champions. 2010-2012- DC at St. Thomas HS. 2012-2016: Head Coach at St Thomas. 45-13 record. 2013 TD Club Coach of the Year. 4X District Champs. 2025 will be my 2nd season at MacArthur and I am Linebackers Coach. Wife: Katie Kids: John, Thomas and Keeley School: Rice University, 1991 Kinesiology. 4-YR letter winner. 2-year starter. 2-year Jess Neely award winner.

LAURENCE GRIGSBY JR.

Graduated: Texas College (2006-2011) Masters: Strayer University (2020) Career: The 2025 season will be Laurence Grigsby’s 2nd season as the Offensive Line Coach for our MacArthur Generals. Coach Grigsby or Coach G. is in his 1th Year Teaching and his 6th Year coaching. Laurence was a 2006 graduate of Forest Brook High School, where he was a 3 year Letterman. This year(2024) was his rookie season in the High school ranks, but with an optimistic attitude, his family's support, and the wealth of knowledge he shares a coaching office with, it has been a smooth transition. Coach G. is also a Boys and Girls Thrower’s coach for the MacArthur Track Pack. Before MacArthur, Grigsby Coached Middle School Football, Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Soccer in Spring ISD. Simultaneously he also was the Campus Intermurals Coordinator for Winship Elementary for two years. The League had Volleyball, Boys and girls basketball.(2018-2024) Throughout the years, Grigsby hangs his hat on his ability to foster rapport and relationships. Coach G. is a member of both the Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association. At Texas College (NAIA) Laurence was a 5- Year Letter athlete in football. I also participated in various organizations like MOVE( Men of Valor and Excellence) where I was the President. And HCASC or Honda Campus All Star Challenge(National HBCU Quiz Bowl) where I captained my Last year. It was at TC where coaching and leadership started to become a reality. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education while completing my Educator’s Preparation Program or Teacher’s Certification. I have been Married to Mrs.Wonderful (Kedria) for nearly 11 years and outside of my Faith she is without a shadow of a doubt the best decision I have ever made! Together we have 3 Children RJ, Laurence(III) and Lauren-Latasha. We have a Pet Frenchie named Lightning.

MICHAEL KAZMIERSKI

9TH DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Graduated: Texas A&M University (College Station) 1995-1999 Coaching Career: The 2025 season will be Coach Michael Kazmierski’s 2nd season as the Defensive Ends Coach for the Generals. Coach Kazmierski, a 1995 graduate of Bryan High School, will be entering his 24th year of coaching high school football. Before coming to MacArthur High School in the summer of 2024, Coach Kazmierski has spent his coaching career at Bryan High School (2002-2004), Magnolia ISD (2004-2016), Bellville High School (2016-2017), New Caney High School (2017-2020, 2022-2024, and Dayton High School (2020-2022). During Coach Kazmierski’s career, he has been a part of 11 District Championship teams including 3 Undefeated District Championship teams. As a Defensive Line coach for most of these years, Coach Kazmierski has coached 4 All State Defensive Linemen and 24 1st Team All District Defensive Linemen, with 26 of his defensive linemen having the privilege to play at the collegiate level. Coach Kazmierski is a long-time member of The Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association. Coach Kazmierski is also the Head Golf Coach at MacArthur High School. As a player: Coach Kazmierski was an Honorable Mention All-State Tight End at Bryan High School. He received a Full Scholarship to play at Texas A&M under R.C. Slocum from 1995-1999 during which he was a 4-year letterman. During his sophomore year at Texas A&M he transitioned to the defensive side of the ball and finished his career playing for the Wrecking Crew defense. While playing at Texas A&M they won the 1997 Big12 South Championship, and was a part of the 1998 Big12 Championship team over then #2 Kansas State. Coach Kazmierski played in the Alamo Bowl (twice), Cotton Bowl, and the Sugar Bowl. Coach Kazmierski made the “Dean’s List” his Junior year. He is a proud Alumni and supports his Aggies “Gig ‘Em” Family: Coach Kazmierski and his beautiful wife Carla have four amazing children, Gabrielle, Ginger, Daylan, and Kacey, and two rambunctious but fantastic grandchildren. Gabrielle and her fiancé’ ,EJ Kreis, live in Chadron Nebraska where she is the Chamber of Commerce President and EJ is the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for Chadron State College. Ginger and her husband, Luke, live in Gunnison Colorado, and have our two grandchildren Leo (4) and Maxine (2). They own a restaurant named “The Blackstock Bistro” where Luke is also the Head Chef. Daylan, is a Junior at Texas State University studying Construction Science. Kacey, is a Sophomore at The University of North Florida playing volleyball on scholarship, and she is studying Psychology. GO BIG RED!!!

As a Player: I attended MacArthur High School, earning two varsity letters in football and three in basketball. I played defensive end and tight end during my time at MacArthur. As a football player, I earned several accolades, including 2nd Team All-District honors in 2008 and 1st Team All-District recognition in 2009. Following high school, I was awarded a full scholarship at New Mexico Military Institute. While at NMMI, I led the team in sacks in 2012. After my time in New Mexico, I received another full scholarship to play at Texas Southern University, where I completed my collegiate football career. One memorable highlight from my time at TSU was being part of one of the first American teams to play in the Bahamas. Coaching Career: Coach McWilliams began his coaching career at his alma mater as the assistant defensive line coach, working under Coach Andy Garza. He then transitioned to the middle school level, where he coached at Hoffman Middle School from 2017 to 2021. During his time at Hoffman, he helped lead the Hornets to a District Championship in 2018. In 2021, Coach McWilliams became the defensive line coach at Kashmere High School under Coach Joshua Harris. During his tenure at Kashmere, he coached the Defensive Co-MVP of District 11-4A. After his time at Kashmere, Coach McWilliams returned to Hambrick Middle School, his former middle school, where he served as the defensive line coach before coming back to MacArthur High School in 2024. Coach McWilliams was eager for the opportunity to return to MacArthur and contribute to uplifting the MacArthur community. This marks his 10th year in teaching and coaching, and the upcoming season will be his 11th year overall and his second season with the Generals. In 2025, Coach McWilliams will be serving as the linebackers coach. He is also a member of the Texas Coaching Association and the Greater Houston Football Coaching Association.

Hard-working Professional Educator with 8 years of experience and a proven knowledge of classroom management, curriculum development, and conflict resolution. Passionate and dedicated offensive line coach, developing high-performing linemen at the high school level. Adept at implementing effective blocking schemes, enhancing player technique, and fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and accountability. High level energetic football coach and passionate about mentoring athletes to build sustainable training habits. Member of THSCA and GHFCA.

Coach Deron Trevino is a passionate and dedicated football coach with 22 years of high school coaching experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston-Downtown and recently completed his master’s degree at Lamar University. Throughout his career, Coach Trevino has been committed to fostering a strong team culture and developing players’ skills both on and off the field. Coach Trevino has spent 13 years of his career serving as an Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator and has coached all offensive positions with expertise and precision. His coaching journey has also extended beyond football—he has coached Track, Powerlifting, served as the Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach, and coached Baseball as his secondary sport. Coach Trevino has had the privilege of mentoring and developing numerous players who have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Coach Trevino’s coaching career has taken him to various parts of Texas, where he has made a significant impact on every program he’s been a part of. He began his coaching career at St. Pius X High School, where he won two State Championships. He then took his talents to Hidalgo Early College High School in South Texas before moving on to Westbury Christian High School, Heights High School, Spring Dekaney, Texas City High School, and ultimately returning home to his alma mater, MacArthur High School. Coach Trevino is a firm believer in developing strong character and leadership skills in his players that will last a lifetime. His ability to motivate and inspire young athletes has been a driving force behind his long and successful coaching career.

Graduated: Trinity University Career: The 2025 season will be Coach Ware’s 2nd season at MacArthur and 6th overall as a coach, having coached Football and Basketball for six years, as well as Track for five. Coach Ware is also a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association.Before arriving at MacArthur, Coach Ware coached at Dayton High School and Woodrow Wilson Junior High in Dayton ISD. Coach Ware is a native Houstonian and graduate of New Caney High School, class of 2016.
